Huomautus sisällöstä, tiivistelmä tms. An intellectual work consisting in the stage direction of an opera is included in the general notion of Art. 1 of Law No. 633 of 1941 by virtue of the broad wording of the provision. Like that of Art. 2575 of the Civil Code and fully in line with the rationale of the law, it sees the product of human creativity as worthy of protection. The absence of any explicit mention of this type of direction in copyright law or the Berne Convention does not present any valid argument to the contrary. This principle applies whenever a personal and creative contribution to the ‘reading’ of the work by the director must be acknowledged, it being the task of the court seized of the matter to determine this.
