Huomautus sisällöstä, tiivistelmä tms. Online content dissemination has exponentially increased the difficulty of protecting one's image from unauthorized use. In this digital universe, image rights have become a tool of growing importance for private individuals, celebrities and public figures to reassert control over their public personas. New applications of image rights are emerging to address developments in deepfake amd synthetic media technology, influencer marketing, digital avatars and non-fungible tokens (NFTs). Mounting evidence suggests that online platforms are facilitating de facto recognition of image rights per se. However, the current variability in platforms' policies highlights a need for these platforms to observe principles of due process.
