  • Proceedings of the Fourth International Conference on Cultural Economics, Volume 1
Huomautus sisällöstä, tiivistelmä tms.
  • This is Volume I of three of the Proceedings of the Fourth International Conference on Cultural Economics held May 12-14, 1986, at the Palace of the Popes in Avignon, France. The field of cultural economics has matured rather rapidly from great variation in the quality of work ranging from highly rigorous theoretical developments supplemented by empirical research to vague descriptions and polemical prescriptions. The field now addresses various cultural economics issues with rigor and objectivity. This is illustrated by the contents of this volume. The format of this book is to move from the general to the specific. The opening section deals with broad theoretical issues with several focusing on refinement and application of the seminal work of Baumol and Bowen in the analysis of performing arts. Subsequent sections examine particular cases and issues within various performing arts themselves. (Preface, p. i) Sections on Music and Dance, Theater, Orchestra and Movies and Broadcasting.
