The celebrity iCloud leak (involving high profile figures such as actress Jennifer Lawrence and TV personality Kim Kardashian) has highlighted the vulnerabilities posed by capturing information about our daily lives on personal devices and automatically backing it up to the cloud. Taking the example of private photos being stolen from a cloud account by a hacker and disseminated online, this article considers what can be done to try and reassert control over such photos, including: what legal action can be taken; and the legal remedies that are available and against whom.
