  • Multiple major Esport games contemporarily feature tournaments hosted by the companies that own these games. This is pitting videogame companies and normal tournament hosts as competitors, wherein they earlier shared a purely symbiotic relationship. In this backdrop, it becomes essential to examine the various copyrights associated with Esport tournament streams and the respective owners of these copyrights. This paper sheds light on the above issue in the context of UK copyright law. The article checks copyright ownership claims of videogame companies, tournament hosts, players, and independent streamers. This is done systematically by first comprehensively identifying the various works present in tournament streams, and then analysing authorship/ownership over these works.
