  • Arts management as a profession has a long history although as an academic discipline it started to emerge as late as in 1960s. In Finland, arts management education begin in the 1990s and this book provides insights into the contested and contradictory field of arts management in Finland and abroad through academic articles and more practically oriented cases. Hence, the publication is also a celebration of the arts management education in Finland, particularly at the Sibelius Academy of the University of the Arts Helsinki where the Arts Management Master’s Degree Programme has been taught already for 20 years. The programme has educated professionals to the wide field of arts management and the book aims to broaden the understanding of arts management as a discipline and as a practice.
